Good Samaritan Respite Center and
Saint Vincent de Paul Medical Center
Purpose is to provide funds for these organizations in assisting the less fortunate and homeless. Estimates are over 5000 in Augusta of which an estimated two thirds are veterans.
Food for the Poor
Purpose is to provide food to the less fortunate through Catholic Social Services. Last year our council provided three pallets of food.
Wheel Chair Fund
Purpose is to collect funds that when combined with monies collected by other councils throughout the country are used to purchase wheelchairs and provide them to the most needy locations. 200 were delivered to the Augusta VA Hospital four years ago to assist the Veterans in need. In the past we have also supported needs in other countries such as Haiti and Somalia.
Seminarian Fund
Purpose is to provide financial assistance to young men in Seminary some of whom have no means of support. The Seminarians we currently support are Mark Lockhard and James (Jamie) Hickman. Jamie has committed to becoming a Military Chaplain.
Coats For Kids
Purpose is to gather or buy and deliver coats to as many needy kids as possible. This year we purchased 32 New Coats and PGK Al Larson delivered them to Catholic social Services and we collected 40 coats or jackets, Chancellor Dave Besel delivered them to Action Ministries Augusta.
Veterans Administration Voluntary Service
Purpose is to support Patrick Walsh Assembly's program of Coffee, Donuts, Cookies, Juice, Water and Camaraderie to Hospitalized Veterans, Out Patients and Employees at the VA Hospital.
Persons With Intellectual Disabilities
Purpose is to raise funds to provide for the essentials to these persons who in most cases are unable to provide for themselves.
